Charlene Stanley, 78, of Glenwood, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at her home. A time of gathering with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Glee Charlene (Tillman) Stanley, one of two children of Perry Sylvester and Harriett Glee (Wallace) Tillman, was born on November 9, 1939 in Maryville, Missouri. She graduated from the Thurman High School in Thurman, Iowa. Charlene worked in Glenwood at the hardware store and Newman's Thriftway grocery store.
Charlene and Phillip E. "Rick" Stanley, Jr., were united in marriage on June 13, 1958 in Thurman. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Billy Jo, Eric Glenn, Elizabeth Marie, Patricia Elaine, and Steven Lee.
Charlene was a member of the F.O.E. Auxiliary in Glenwood. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and fishing. Charlene won doubles bowling in the state of Iowa with her daughter Liz. Purple was her favorite color and she loved anything owls. Charlene loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a good friend to all who knew her.
Charlene passed away at her home in Glenwood, Iowa on July 6, 2018, at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 27 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law Jack Stanley.
Charlene is survived by her husband of 60 years Rick Stanley of Glenwood; children, Bill (Laurie) Stanley of Sioux Falls, SD, Eric Stanley of Glenwood, Liz (Jim) Boston of Glenwood, Pat Ring of Plattsmouth, NE, and Steve (Amy) Stanley of Plattsmouth; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother Perry "Butch" Tillman of Sidney, IA; other relatives; and many friends.

No words can say how she touched so many hearts. She was like a second mom to me. Had so many great times that many of us will remember. She would do anything for any one . A heart of gold which many have just like her in the family. Thinking of you all. See you Friday. Love to all.
