Mekina Katherine Harris, 32, of Glenwood, IA passed away on July 2, 2020 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Such a beautiful young woman gone too soon. Such kind eyes drew me here . My condolences for her family & friends. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel.
Dam right celebration of life. That was Mekina on a daily basis. She didn't need a reason to celebrate life she did it everyday the minute she got out of bed. I've never met a better natural zest for life. The minute you stepped into her presence you where celebrating life on her level and it was truly intoxicating. I would look at the world through different eyes just from having a casual conversation with her. I would leave so jealous of her because I could never be in balance with the world like she was, yet so happy and grateful that I was a part of her life. She was put here to enlighten those around her and boy did she do that. She will continue to enlighten me forever no matter where life takes me. Thank u Mekina it was a pleasure.
Beth and I didn't get to spend as much time as we would like with Mekina because we live so far away but when we did it was something special. She had the ability to light up a room with her amazing sense of humor and beautiful voice. She was independent, beautiful and a very smart girl. We're all better for knowing her.
A couple years ago at my birthday dinner. I’m sure it was some air guitar competition going on to journey 😔
I will miss her beautiful face and incredible personality. Rest in Eternal Peace Mekina.
Lori and family my heart aches for you all. May God be with you all. Hugs

My name is Joshua Lloyd Cooper I first met Melina my 7th grade year she was in 8 th grade she always made me laugh and made me smile especially whenever I was sad or mad I could talk to her about anything.
I remember one time when she was cutting my hair and I had wanted a trim but it's fine but anyway so she had cut all my hair and so she gets to the end of the haircut and says ok your good to go your done with your haircut and she didn't know that she had missed an entire part of my head and she didn't know that and so I tell her what do you mean I'm good to go like you still have like a fourth of my hair to cut and she's like what do you mean I'm done with your haircut I'm like no your not look and so she looks at it and starts laughing so hard that she literally starts to snort
Mekina was a kind, gentle, compassionate, hilarious, loving and genuine soul. Her family raised a beautiful woman, inside and out. She will always be remembered and loved to no end. Fly high, girl ❤️
Please know my prayers for comfort are with you all.

I just have no words. What a blessing it must have been for her to be surrounded with the love of her family when she passed. My heart is breaking for all of you.
It's so hard to find the appropriate words to say when someone passes away, esp when that person is so young and should have a long life yet to live. So I will simply and sincerely say that our thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with Mekinas' family. Steve and Genelle Campbell
