Ed Harding, 72, of Glenwood, IA passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. A time of gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Glenwood High School cafeteria. The family request you to wear your favorite Glenwood Rams or Iowa Hawkeye attire in honor of Ed. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Ed and his family.
Memorials: Per the request of Ed's family in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Glenwood Booster Club.
Edward Wayne Harding, 72, of Glenwood, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.
Ed was born on January 23, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Donald Leroy and Marie Christina (Petersen) Harding. He graduated from high school and attended Clinton Community College, University of Northern Iowa and Northwest Missouri University, obtaining his teaching degree in math. Ed taught high school math for 33 years at the Glenwood High School.
Ed served in the United States Army from 1971-1973, during the Vietnam era, and was stationed at HDQTR USAEOR as a pay disbursing specialist in Heidelberg, Germany.
Ed and Nancy Philipp were united in marriage on November 30, 1974 in Manchester, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Sara, Adam and Aaron.
Ed enjoyed playing golf and had a great passion for photography, especially for sports photos. He could be found at area high school events, right behind the lens of his camera, capturing those quick moments in time of many athletes, students, and fans. To the delight of those who loved haunted houses, his "Harding Haunted House of Horrors" was a big hit during Halloween for many years. Ed loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and mother and father in law, Ernie and Lois Philipp.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy of Glenwood; daughter Sara Harding of Council Bluffs; sons, Adam Harding and wife Danie of Bellevue, NE, and Aaron Harding and wife CJ of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Jaxson, Jace, Emersyn and Finley; brother Donald Harding of Clinton, IA; sister Vickie Lehmann and husband Mark of Camanche, IA; and a host of many friends.
