Michael Carnes, 70 of Glenwood, IA, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation at the funeral home will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be held at the Waubonsie Cemetery, rural Glenwood. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Michael and his family.

Michael Allen Carnes, 70 of Glenwood, IA, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Mike was born on November 14, 1951 in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Robert and Maxine (Rainey) Carnes. He grew up in Glenwood and graduated in 1970. Mike served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He drove truck over the road and farmed with his dad and raised cattle and hogs, until his retirement.
Mike and Debra Lynette Sears were united in marriage on March 2, 1973 at the First Baptist Church in Glenwood. They were blessed with three children, Jon, Natalie, and Nicholas.
Mike and Debbie were members of the First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, NE. Mike was a "wild child" who loved motorcycles and anything racing, especially drag races. He enjoyed fast pitch and slow pitch ball, played in a bowling league for many years, coached youth sports for many years, and was very mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything. Mike loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a good friend to all who knew him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son Jon Michael Carnes.
Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debbie Carnes; daughter, Natalie (David) McEwen, and children, Tyler, Olivia, Reilly, Annie, and Madilyn; and son, Nic Carnes (Emily) and children, Kaitlyn, Chris, Sophia, Izzy, Nolan and Brodie, all of Glenwood; and sisters, Pamela (Brick) Madison of Glenwood and sons, Corey (Terra) Madison, and Clint (Stephanie) Madison, and Diane (Steve) Beattie of Malvern, IA; other relatives; and many friends.
