Obituary
John "Johnnie" Richardson, 94 of Carson, IA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Fellowship Church in Oakland, IA. Visitation with the family will be held at the church two hours prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Wheeler Grove Cemetery, Carson. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson is caring for Johnnie and his family.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial funds will be used to purchase a bench for the Wheeler Grove Cemetery.
John "Johnnie" Richardson, 94 of Carson, IA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Johnnie was born on January 8, 1929 in Macedonia, IA, a son of Ernest and Glada (Cain) Richardson. He graduated from Carson High School in 1946. Johnnie lived his life on the farm and enjoyed raising livestock and tending to the fields. He spent many years in factory work at Union Carbide, Eveready Battery, and Griffin Pipe but his favorite work was mowing the cemeteries and being the silver haired guy who carried groceries at the Hy-Vee in Red Oak, IA and enjoying conversations with the customers.
Johnnie and Ila Doralene Kindig were united in marriage on February 14, 1954. They built their home on his family farm near Carson where they raised their children. They enjoyed business ventures together including selling insurance, real estate and Amway and have many memories hosting and entertaining family and friends in their home.
Johnnie loved playing cards and marble games, gardening, mowing on his John Deere mower, watching NBA games, and enjoyed having company over to visit. He loved spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; son Scottie Richardson; brother Merle Richardson; granddaughter Hannah Wise; and great grandson Bailey Wise.
Johnnie is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ila Richardson of Carson; daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Wise of Edmonds, WA, Cindy Richardson of Omaha, NE, and Susan (Jon) Dobernecker of Carson, IA; honorary daughter Marsha (Mick) O'Brien of Oakland, IA; granddaughter Michelle (Rhett) Prichard and their five children, grandson Chris (Kathie) Wilken and their two children, granddaughter Skyler (Jose) Avila and their two children; granddaughter Melissa Wise, and many other relatives and friends.
