Kent Asmussen, 75, of Papillion, NE, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the funeral home. Private burial will be at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, NE, at a later date. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Kent and his family.

OBITUARY
Kent Asmussen, 75, of Papillion, NE, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Kent Lee Asmussen, one of three children of Kenneth Albert and Kathleen Luella (Dean) Asmussen, was born February 12, 1948 in Council Bluffs, IA. He attended Glenwood High School where he was involved in football, basketball, student council and track, where he set both school and state records, that he was extremely proud of. He graduated from Glenwood in 1966. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country until 1972. He worked at Kellogg's in Omaha until his retirement.
Kent enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He loved spending time with his family but most of all enjoyed being a grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a love for yellow labs, especially Suzie. Kent was a generous man who always helped when there was a need. He always looked for the best in others. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by so many.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents.
Kent is survived by his children, Mindy Saak and her husband Rob of Granger, IA, Shawn Asmussen of Peoria, AZ, and Ashley Kissel (Eric Johnson) of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Mikayla Saak, Joshua Saak and his wife Emma, Aleah Saak, Boston Kissel, and Blake Kissel; brother Dr. Keith Asmussen and his wife Dianna of Encinitas, CA; sister Kathy Bussey and her husband Tom of Glenwood, IA; several nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of many special friends.
