OBITUARY
Robert "Bob" Adon Malcom, 82 of Glenwood, IA, formerly of Malvern, IA, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Glen Haven Village in Glenwood.
Bob was born on July 6, 1941 in Council Bluffs, IA, the oldest of two sons of Carl and June Etta (Madison) Malcom. His parents started farming near Randolph, IA, in 1948. They later moved to the Silver City area, living on the Art Burgoin farm and Plumer Ranch. His brother Dale was born in 1949. Bob graduated from the Silver City High School in 1960.
Bob and Patricia Ann Breeding were united in marriage on September 27, 1963 in Maryville, MO. They lived on several farms in Mills County before moving to live in Malvern. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Trisha and Christine.
Bob farmed through part of his life. He took over the position of Tractor and Safety Instructor from LaVerne Obrecht. For years, Bob was a reserve officer for the Mills County Sheriff's Department and a part-time officer for the Glenwood Police Department, filling in when needed. After moving to town, he owned and maintained the three trailer home parks in Malvern. He had a big heart for his renters. He and Pat purchased Randy's Tastee Sweet in 1996, renamed it Pat's Place (Bob made the best lemon ice cream, which was a family favorite and he even transported it for a wedding in Olathe, KS), They operated the business until 2005, when they retired and sold out to Mark and Colleen Driskoll. Bob looked forward to spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks during the summer. When Bob and Pat chose Texas for the winters, he would begin his countdown of the days before leaving for Pharr, Texas to stay in their trailer at Texas Trails. Bob loved sharing food, playing cards, and the good fellowship with his Texas neighbors, where many cherished memories were made.
Bob and Pat relocated to a townhouse in Glenwood briefly and then they moved to the CountryHouse Residence for Memory Care in Council Bluffs, IA until Bob became ill and unable to return to live with Pat and he moved to Glen Haven.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Pat Malcom, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Trisha Malcom and companion James Whitfield, Jr of Wichita, KS, and Christine Miller and husband Scott of Glenwood; three granddaughters, Danisha Brinklow and her husband Cem, and their daughter Evelyn, Sydney Miller and Samantha Miller; brother Dale Malcom and wife Diane of Glenwood; brother-in-law Bruce Breeding and wife Debbie of Malvern; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
