Carl Winslow, 93, of Silver City, IA passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the Silver City Cemetery in Silver City, IA. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood beginning at 9:30 a.m. up until the funeral cortege will leave for the cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Carl and his family.

OBITUARY
Carl Winslow made his final journey into heaven from his heaven on earth and his home for almost 94 years. He was the son of Truman Fred and Bernice Flora (Stacy) Winslow and was born on December 13, 1929 in Glenwood, IA.
On June 21, 1952 he married the true love of his life of 71 years Frances Gayle Wise in Emerson, IA. Together the couple raised four children Steven, Larry, Diane and Theresa.
Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He farmed, worked at Armours Packing before entering a career as a professional truck driver for 60 years retiring at the tender age of 85.
Carl was a member of the Waubonsie Saddle Club enjoying a good ride with his Palomino, Pallet and the Silver City American Legion.
Carl will be best remembered by those who knew him for his love of spending time with his family, a good game of pitch, his antique tractors, and his joy of gardening. He especially enjoyed camping and his storytelling. He always looked forward to his afternoon drive through Silver City and going to McDonald's for breakfast and would play a scratch off or two. If you would pay close attention, you imagine Carl on his tractor mowing in his blue bib overalls and a Air Force cap with a big smile on his face.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Theresa Kay Zimmerle; and brother Fred John Lute Winslow.
Carl is survived by his wife of 71 years, Frances of Silver City; sons, Steve Winslow and his wife Kerry of Hastings, IA, and Larry Winslow and his wife Teresa of Loveland, CO; daughter Diane Reed and her spouse Richard of Henderson, IA; sister Patsy Wallinger of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Vicki Walker and her husband John of Greeley, CO; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and other relatives and a host of many special friends.
