Harold R. Hofmockel, 99, of Glenwood, IA, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 in Council Bluffs, IA. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation prior to the graveside will be held at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the cortege leaves for the cemetery.

OBITUARY
Harold Roll Hofmockel, 99 of Glenwood, IA, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Northcrest Living Center in Council Bluffs, IA.
Harold was born on October 17, 1924 in Glenwood, the only child of Lawrence and Myrtle Alma (Roll) Hofmockel. He graduated from high school in Glenwood in 1942. That summer he machine operated at Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL. Harold was drafted into the United States Marines in April of 1943 and served overseas in Peleliu, Okinawa, and Guam. Following his honorable discharge, Harold was employed by the US Postal Service as a mail carrier, as well as being on the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department, until his retirement in 1981.
Harold and Verla Joan Seitz were united in marriage on August 18, 1946 in Glenwood where they made their home. They were blessed with four children, Kathy Lyn, Tara Kay, Charles Lawrence and Jack David.
Harold was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Harvey T. Rimel Legion Post 141 in Glenwood.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife Verla on September 19, 2011.
Harold is survived by his children, Kathy McLuen and husband Roy of Seattle, WA, Tara Hofmockel of Council Bluffs, Charles Hofmockel and wife Cindy of Phoenix, AZ, and Jack Hofmockel and wife Melissa of Council Bluffs, IA; six grandchildren, Sonia Ingles and husband Juan, Roy McLuen II, Megan Goldensoph and husband Cory, Blaine Hofmockel, Troy Hofmockel, and Shannon Brennan and husband Jesse; numerous great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
