Following school, she moved to St. Joseph, Missouri.
Madelaine and Edward B. Teegarden of St. Joseph were married in Troy, Kansas on April 5, 1947. Ed was employed as a driver for the Continental Trailways Bus Line and they made their home in St. Joseph. Their new family of four, including Madelaine's son Charles and Edward's son Leslie, grew to include their children Randy, Rod, Julie, Jan, and Tony.
