Evelyn (Osterholm) Dalton

Evelyn Bernice Dalton, one of nine children of Sarah Elizabeth (Hanks) and Oscar Canute Osterholm, was born in Glenwood, Iowa on November 21, 1914. Evelyn grew up in Glenwood where she attended school and graduated in 1932.
Evelyn and C. E. "Jack" Dalton were married in Glenwood on October 6, 1935. Jack worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad and Evelyn was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Robert Morris Dalton. Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Glenwood where she was baptized and confirmed. She was eventually promoted from her work as a telephone operator to a supervisor for the telephone company in Omaha. In addition to caring for her family, she enjoyed playing cards and belonged to many card clubs.
Evelyn and Jack had been married nearly 60 years, when Jack died on March 7, 1995. She continued to live at home until her health forced her to move to the Manor of Malvern Care Center in September of 2001, where she died on March 9, 2006 at the age of 91 years, 3 months, and 18 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Dalton, brothers Lisle, Stewart, Orrin, Richard, and Leo Osterholm, and sister Helen Riekena of Maxwell, IA.
Evelyn is survived by her son Robert Dalton and grandchildren Lisa Leu, her husband Duane, and their children Ryan, Daniel, and Alicia and Jason Dalton and his wife Amanda all of Glenwood; sister Dorothy Niederberger of Troy, MO and brother Robert Osterholm and his wife Sue of Omaha; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
